Africa Business : Health Forum
Tuesday, 12 February 2019
Hyatt Regency, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The Forum will take place on Tuesday, the 12th February 2019 at the new Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
It will take place on the sidelines of the African Union (AU) Summit, and as a result we recommend that our guests book hotels as early as possible since the city will be busy. The AU Summit will bring together African Heads of State as well as a number of key stakeholders from academia, private sector and civil society. Do visit the African Union’s website for a programme of events that will take place during the Annual Meetings.
The Forum will see the launch of both a groundbreaking report and a new Africa-wide initiative, the African Business Coalition for Health (ABCHealth), to help stimulate a new approach to healthcare provision.
Public-Private participation in healthcare is failing the majority of Africans. There is a need for a new and more effective approach. This one-day Forum, already being dubbed as the African Davos, will bring together Africa’s foremost CEOs and business leaders as well as a number of heads of state, ministers and health experts to start thinking differently about how they need to collaborate to tackle health challenges in the continent.
Through greater dialogue, collaboration and by putting some of Africa’s most entrepreneurial minds together, we are convinced that we can bring innovative and creative solutions to the problem as well as channel more capital whilst mitigating risks for greater investment.
The Forum saw a soft-launch during the 73rd UN General Assembly in New York last September.
